A Sugar Free Treat I Made With My Daughter, Katherine (Age 4)

Last week was National Sugar Awareness Week, an initiative designed to urge Americans to cut sugar from their diets and/or at least lessen their normal sugar consumption. To help reduce our families sugar intake I was challenged to create a sugarless family treat using Aquaball Berry Frost flavored water.

After giving it some thought, I thought it would be fun to create fruit ice pops with my daughter, Katherine (Age 4), using the flavored water while adding cut up frozen cherries and strawberries to create an easy treat which I am calling "Berry Frost Popsicles."

BERRY FROST POPSICLES

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup diced frozen Strawberries - no sugar added
  • 1/2 cup diced frozen Cherries pitted - no sugar added
  • 1 Bottle Berry Frost Aquaball Flavored Water
  • Dixie cups
  • Popsicle Sticks or craft sticks or plastic spoons
Directions:
Step 1: In a 2 cup measuring cup with a spout I poured the one bottle of Berry Frost Aquaball drink.

Step 2: Using a 1/2 cup of frozen Strawberries and 1/2 cup of frozen Cherries I diced them on a plate.

Step 3: Using the craft sticks Katherine scooped out the fruit and poured the remaining juice from the plate into the measuring cup with the flavored water.

Step 4: Katherine then kept mixing until the water turned pink and everything was mixed together.

Step 5: Using the dixie cups I poured the fruit mix we created into the dixie cups and Katherine mixed again.

Step 6: Katherine then stuck one craft stick into the middle of each dixie cup

Step 7: I then placed the cups in the freezer and left them in for 6-8 hours or until they are solid.

Step 8: Once done take them out of the freezer and peel the dixie cups off and enjoy!!!

I was provided a complimentary sample from Aquaball to complete this recipe challenge. I had a blast making a yummy treat and my daughter, Katherine who had a lot of fun helping me dice the fruit, mix it into the flavored water and then pour it into the dixie cups.
