Circulation 7,500 and Serving the Communities of Camarillo, Oxnard & Ventura

June 19, 2016
Hello Macaroni Kid families,

On Monday, June 20th at 3:34 pm PDT is when the first day of summer begins with the beginning of the summer solstice. (SOURCE) That means that the first full day of summer is Tuesday, June 21st. I love celebrating with the kids by making some cool sun crafts and enjoying some cold ice cream.

Here is more info on Summer Solstice Traditions,or maybe make some solstice crafts from Pinterest or some cute recipes that the kids can help make.

The Los Angeles Griffith Observatory hosts a Summer Solstice Event. For the 2016 summer solstice, the Sun’s projected image crosses the engraved meridian arc of the Gottlieb Transit Corridor on the west side of the Observatory. The northernmost sunset and the end of the longest day of the year align with an engraved marker and stone line laid into the pavement on the terrace. The solstice sunset occurs at 8:07 pm.

Note: The Observatory will be closed on Monday, but they do a presentation out front for the Solstice on Monday, June 20, 2016, with a presentation at 12:45pm and 8 pm, sky gazing will begin at 3:34 pm. The Griffith Observatory, is located at 2800 East Observatory Road, Los Angeles, 90027. This event is free and to get more info visit www.griffithobservatory.org

Have a wonderful beginning to summer from Macaroni Kid!
