Save the Date for the City of Oxnard's Recreation and Community Services Division's 12th Annual Oxnard Tamale Festival at Oxnard's Plaza Park on Saturday December 7, 2019, from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm.
The festival will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts, family fun and, of course, mouthwatering tamales in addition to the annual Oxnard Christmas Parade.
The fun-filled event features several family-friendly activities:

- Youth can enjoy adrenaline-pumping fun as well as arts and crafts in the kids zone.
- Santa will be on hand for pictures!
- Stop by the arts and crafts booths, and non-profit information booths.
- Enjoy live entertainment

The 2019 Oxnard Christmas parade will be complete with colorful marching bands, equestrian units, local school groups, spirited holiday floats and the man of the hour – Santa! The parade takes place 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 7th. Find a spot on the route which includes A, 5th and C Streets in downtown Oxnard. After the Parade enjoy the Oxnard Tamale Festival, a free event until 6:30pm.
Sponsored by City of Oxnard, Community businesses and brought to you by Oxnard Downtowners, the event is one of the largest parades in Ventura County and attracts thousands of spectators to the heart of Downtown. The Parade features nearly 100 decorative floats, vehicles, marching bands, dancers and more! The Parade is followed by the Oxnard Tamale Festival at Plaza Park.

The registration packet for our annual Best Tamales Contest is now up online! This event has quickly become one of our favorites, as it allows us to see the variety of tamales that are made locally by businesses and residents. This year, we will again be splitting the contest into two divisions:
- Festival Vendor division, and a Public division. The Festival Vendor division is only open to registered food vendors who are selling tamales at this year’s event.
- The Public division is open to anyone else who would like to enter.
Each division will have two categories in which to choose from:
- Savory category
- Sweet category
Participants are welcome to submit to both categories in their division, but must submit a form for each. The contest judging will take place at 2:00pm on the day of the Festival. Please be sure to stop by!
