By Informational Post January 22, 2017
The sixth annual Camarillo Emergency Expo will take place on Saturday, January 28, in Constitution Park.  The City of Camarillo is again teaming up with the Camarillo LDS Church to present the Emergency Expo, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission is free, and food and refreshments will be available at the event.

Attractions for kids will include bounce houses, face painting, and exploring vehicles and equipment of the Ventura County Fire Department and other agencies.

Constitution Park is located next to Camarillo City Hall, at the intersection of Carmen Drive and Paseo Camarillo, just two blocks north of the 101 Freeway (Carmen exit). In the event of rain, the Emergency Expo will be held at the Camarillo Community Center, just a block north of City Hall, at the corner of Carmen and Burnley Street.

As always, the Emergency Expo will feature activities for all ages, with a focus on getting our residents prepared for emergencies.  There will be demonstrations of water/food storage, as well as hands-on participation with fire extinguishers, CPR, solar food heating, Dutch oven cooking, and radio communications.

A number of emergency products vendors will be onsite with unique, quality merchandise for purchase.

A free combination solar flashlight-radio-cell phone charger will be given away to the first 500 visitors to the Expo.  To receive this great item, attendees will just need to visit at least eight of the event booths.

Canning food for emergency storage is a specialty of LDS Church members.  All visitors to the Expo are invited to bring dry goods for canning for emergencies (can, lid, and oxygen dry pack) for a cost of $1.25 per can.

Among the other organizations participating will be the Ventura County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), VC Sheriff’s K-9 Unit, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), American Red Cross, U.S. Coast Guard, National Weather Service, Amateur Civil Communications, and the Ventura County Animal Shelter.
