CALIFORNIA HONEY HARVEST FESTIVAL & BBQ CONTEST

On Saturday and Sunday June 15 and 16 in Fillmore

Bennett's Honey Farm, an agricultural icon in the Heritage Valley for over 30 years, is producing the 2nd Annual California Honey Harvest Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 15th and 16th, 2013. The event takes place on Father's Day weekend in Fillmore's downtown Central Park.

A sanctioned BBQ has been added to this year's Festival. Activities in the park include arts/craft vendors and food vendors, educational speakers on beekeeping, and the importance of bees in maintaining balance and production of many of our agriculture trees and plants. 

The event will be open to the public at 9.00am on both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a kid friendly area as well as tables and chairs set up in the Plaza area for relaxing and listening to the live music and local blues bands.

Each day there will be 3 train rides to Bennett's Honey Farm, just east of Fillmore. The trains depart at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. The ticket price for Fillmore Train Ride and Bennett's Honey Farm Tour are $20 Adults, Seniors & Youth 4-12: $15, Children 2-3: $10 Under 2 Years free on lap

During the 30 minute ride to the farm, there will be docents on board the train narrating the  demonstration. They will available to answer questions and interact with the people on the train. Once at Bennett's Honey Farm, passengers will be led by a docent for a tour of the processing facility. The only way to experience the behind the scenes tour is to take the train ride during the CA Honey Harvest Festival.

This event is FREE but the train ride to the honey farm held in conjunction with the event is extra.

BBQ Contest
The event will start with vendors and BBQ contestants arriving and setting up on June 14 during the day. BBQ contestants will start their BBQs for slow cooked meats in the early morning hours. The contestant fee is $250. 

Festival goers will enjoy 2oz samples on Saturday from 12 to 4, 2oz tastings will take two tickets that will be sold at a ticket booth on both Saturday and Sunday. A minimum of 10 tickets must be purchased when first buying tickets; after the first purchase there will be no minimum number.  

There are going to be over 30 of the best Pit Masters in all of California participating in this Championship BBQ Contest.
A winner will be picked for Saturdays contest with an award ceremony at 5pm. The winners of the bbq will be announced by actress Maree Cheatham. She has been in many films and commercials and is currently staring on Nickelodeons Sam&Cat. 

On Sunday there is an optional People’s Choice Contest, contestants use the Honey from Bennett’s Honey Farm to flavor their bbq sauce in this contest.
