A Macaroni Kid Review By Harold Rosenthal
Going to see Guardians of the Galaxy, I went not really knowing what to expect other than it was a Marvel and Disney movie. And I was pleasantly surprised. It was better than I could have expected.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a fun and hilarious movie. The first few minutes are sad as a young boy watches his mother die of illness and then gets sucked up by a space ship, but after that I laughed almost throughout the entire movie. It was a typical good vs evil adventure movie with lots of great action, but the humor made it a truly wonderful movie.

The cast was excellent. Chris Pratt as Peter Quill had the perfect blend of rogue and reluctant hero. He and Zoe Saldana (the warrior princess Gamora) had great chemistry. Dave Bautista was perfect as the single minded warrior thirsty for revenge who came from a planet where everything is literal. Bradley Cooper’s Rocket, the mercenary robot Raccoon, had just the right humorous touch as the 4th member of the team.  Vin Diesel found a way to make his only three words “I am Groot” have several different meanings and inflections.

The soundtrack was also wonderful.  As somebody who grew up in the 70’s, I loved hearing many great songs from my youth.  Many in the audience were dancing to the music in their seats.

The movie is fun for most ages.  There are a couple of adult words, some fighting and death (no blood and gore though).  I loved the movie and highly recommend seeing it. The movie is rated PG-13 and is 2 hours and 2 minutes long.

The Story
In Guardians of the Galaxy, you meet a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.

To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance.
