IT'S AN OXNARD MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL ON SATURDAY, OCT 4

Oxnard’s best and most popular festival celebrates 19 years this Saturday, complete with a new location. The Multicultural Festival returns with an exciting lineup of food, music and performances on October 4, 2014, at Collection Park at The Collection at RiverPark, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Admission is free. 

The event will feature live music from GK4, Memo & Friends, Mestizo and the pop, R&B sounds of Instone. 
Catch traditional and cultural performances by Mariachi Inlakech, Korean pop by Kray-Z, Hawaiian dances by Ka Hale Hula O Pilalohaokaiani O Hilo, a special performance by Camarillo Mi Zong Lo Han Kung Fu & Lion Dance, Middle Eastern dance by the Oxnard College NEMA Association, and much more. 

Food vendors will feature fried fish and plantains from Jamaica Me Krazee, chicken adobo and pancit from Alal-Eh Filipino Food, baklava and handmade pies from Bliss Street Baked Goods, and more.  And, don’t forget the popular food trucks including ConFusion Sushi Roll Tacos, Cousins Maine Lobster, La Panini Grill and Tainamite. 
Visit over 50 vendor and information booths featuring arts & crafts, youth art exhibits and a multitude of family friendly activities. 

Grab your complimentary passport and get ready to travel the globe as the festival welcomes back the ever-popular International Booths.  This interactive activity makes traveling the world fun and easy. Visitors can hop from one international booth to another learning fun facts such as customs and traditions, cultural celebrations, language, food, music and history. Get your passport stamped at each stop and receive a special prize.  

This year’s festival is extremely excited to present a very special announcement that will be made on the main stage beginning at 12:30 PM. Invited guests for the special announcement include members of the Oxnard City Council, City Manager, honored dignitaries, staff from Oxnard’s Recreation and Community Services Department, Rebekah Evans, Executive Director of VC West and renowned athletes from the 2012 women’s Olympic boxing team. 

The festival is presented by the City of Oxnard’s Community Relations Commission, whose purpose is to identify and advise City Council on problems of discrimination in the community and to promote better human relations among all city residents.
