Annual October Event at Oxnard Historic Farm Park

The 6th Annual Oktoberfest  is this weekend on Sunday, October 5th from 11:00 AM -4:00 PM at the Oxnard Historic Farm Park at 1251 Gottfried Place, in Oxnard. In addition this event also hosts a Scarecrow Contest for kids, teens and even adults. 

Celebrate the fall season with a local Oktoberfest featuring a Scarecrow Contest, kids crafts, bratwurst, apple strudel, German and Oktoberfest beer, antique tractors, auction items, tour of site, and the band - Accordion Reunion.

SCARECROW CONTEST
  • Winners will win 1st: $100 / 2nd: $50 /3rd: $25
  • Judging: Winners will be chosen by popular vote
  • Set Up: Saturday, October 4 from 9:00-12:00
  • Judging Date: Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

  • OR just bring on the day of the set-up to the farm
Entrants are responsible for bringing and installing their fully assembled scarecrows. Actual installation must be done solely by entrant(s). Please provide your own fastenings. Any entries left after October 5, will become property of The Farm Park Museum

Size: Scarecrow must fit into an 8'x8' area and not exceed 10' in height.
Materials: Perishable and non-perishable goods (for example real and imitation vegetables such as pumpkins) will be permitted.  Ornamentation should be firmly attached and as weatherproofed as possible. Hint: any paper mache should be waterproofed.

Animated Scarecrows: No electricity will be provided for moving parts. Battery, solar or wind power may be used.

Restrictions: Only one entry per group or individual will be accepted. No advertising, religious or political statements or obscene or distasteful entries will be permitted. Please keep in mind that small children will be viewing these.

Youth Entries: Adult supervision with design, cutting, and nailing is permitted, but all entries must be assembled and installed by the children. YOU ARE ON YOUR HONOR!
