Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) Hosts a West Coast Art Experience

Studio Channel Islands Art Center (SCIART) will be hosting a family fun event this weekend, Arts Alive – West Coast Art Experience on Saturday, May 30 from noon to 7pm, and Sunday, May 31 from 10am to 4pm. This event is located  at Studio Channel Islands Art Center at 2222 Ventura Blvd, in Camarillo.

This FREE events art education center will feature art from students and faculty of Adolfo Camarillo High School. For the kids on Saturday there is a sidewalk chalk-painting contest and face painting. Plus, we’ll have a number of special action-packed moments of art greatness for you and your young ones to experience together.

Arts Alive had an amazing inaugural event last year. This year’s version will feature more art, more participation, and more fun. Over 100 artists and art organizations from Ventura County will showcase their works and programs all around our campus.

The Blackboard Gallery will feature Donna Granata’s story-telling portraits of renowned visual artists and an extraordinary selection of rock music photos by Rob Shanahan. SCIART is pleased to partner with Cal Lutheran University in featuring their Kingsmen Shakespeare Theater. A number of demonstrations and artists’ talks will be held throughout the two days.

  • Saturday - Noon to 3pm: Fine Arts Jazz Group
  • Saturday 4pm-7pm: Ignition
  • Sunday- 10am to noon:Teardrop Garage Band
  • Sunday from 1pm-4pm: Bryan McCann & the JazzHeads
Tasty food trucks are already booked and eager to serve you. A wine and beer garden will provide refreshments and a place to relax and mingle.

A variety of performing artists, including actors and stilt walkers, will entertain you. Great bands—such as Ignition from Camarillo, the Fine Art Jazz Group from Malibu, and Bryan & the Jazz Heads—will keep the beat going throughout the weekend.

With many local art organizations, artists, live entertainment, and quality vendors, this event is one you don’t want to miss. Everyone who attends is sure to have a fantastic day and leave with a greater love of the visual and performing arts.
