CHRISTMAS LIGHTS IN VENTURA COUNTY

The Top Places to Take The Kids to Enjoy Lights of the Season

December 13, 2010

The highlight of the month of December for my kids is driving around and seeing all the wonderful Christmas Lights and special effects that homeowners have created to make the season extra special for their friends and families.

Every year I ask around and try and find all the coolest displays in Ventura county. So if you know of a place that is not mentioned please comment below so you can share your favorite places with other Macaroni Kid Camarillo readers.

CAMARILLO

Every year a majority of the homes on Gemini Street and Waverly Avenue, that is located south of Dunnigan Street in Camarillo (Off Arneil Street) are lit up and decorated with cartoon characters, trains, Santas, snowmen, and more. My family loves to drive it or walk. Its a local favorite with everyone in Camarillo.

OXNARD

There's a "candy cane lane" in historic downtown Oxnard. Between F & G streets. I think is starts on  5th Street to 1st Streets. It's great to walk or drive. In addition people sell hot cocoa on the street.

A computer choreographed music and light show plays at the Pagoda and repeats every 15 minutes. There are over 30,000 computer synchronized lights, christmas trees and animated charachters. It plays daily from 5pm to 10pm at Plaza Park in Oxnard at 5th and B street.

MOORPARK

View a neighborhood that has taken christmas decorations to new heights. You will find this on Pinedale Rd, Clearwood Rd, Cedardale Rd, and sorounding streets in Moorpark, daily from 5pm to 10pm

NEWBURY PARK

This special house is on  Via Patricia in the Dos Vientos section of Newbury Park and they will present a synchronized incredible light display. The show takes place most nights from 6pm to 10pm. The entire amazing display is created with welding together trees (including a 17 foot tree in the middle of the yard), wreathes and other decorations. In addition this display features music that wlll accompany the moving images, just tune to FM 99.1. Newly added this year is a massive "snow" bubble display.

Another animated Christmas light display that is synchronized to music and is located at 5209 Via Jacinto in Newbury Park, CA. The music is broadcast on 99.1 FM so that people can enjoy the light show from their cars. The show runs 5pm-10pm daily.
