A picture of the theatre, while we were waiting for the show to start
I found the Ahmanson very easy to get in and out of, coming from Ventura County. At the entrance of the theatre they sell boxes of candies that you pick out and fill like one of those old fashioned candy stores, which I thought was pretty cool and the kids seemed to love. While watching Mary Poppins, the candy store has a really great tie in to the show and I loved the prominance of Kites in the show. You can even buy a Mary Poppins Kite to take home.
The show was wonderful, at about 2 1/2 hours long I think it would have been too long for my 5 year old but my 7 year old would have absolutely loved it. I thought the story was very fun and the music was very catchy and we were singing along with all the characters.
The show plays at the Ahmanson until September 2nd and you can get tickets for as low as $49 per person for select performances. To purchase tickets call 213.972.4400 and mention the Family Friendly discount code SUGAR or visit www.centertheatregroup.org/SUGAR.
