This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the California Strawberry Festival and we have some really big news to share with you about this event. Macaroni Kid Camarillo-Oxnard-Ventura will be presenting a "BERRY BEST DRESSED BABY" contest on both days of the festival. Keep reading for details on ALL the Strawberry Festival contests.
This years Strawberry Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19, 2013 at Strawberry Meadows of College Park in Oxnard from 10am to 6:30pm on both days. General admission is $12, seniors 62+ are $8 and children ages 5-12 are $5. Kids 4 and under are free. Active military and dependents with ID are $8.

Never in short supply, delicious strawberry dishes are a key attraction, from strawberry kabobs, strawberry nachos, strawberry pizza and even strawberry beer -- strawberries with funnel cake, chocolate dipped, glazed and powdered, are all for the feasting from 50 food and beverage booths. The “build your own” strawberry shortcake tent lets you control your strawberry bliss as you pile on the goodness. All proceeds from the non-profit food vendors benefit more than 20 Southland charities and close to $4 million dollars have gone to worthy causes over the past decades while paying tribute to the region’s agricultural heritage.

Schedule & How to Sign Up
- For kids up to 4 years of age.
- Attend dressed in your most fetching berry attire.
- The contest parade gets underway at 3:30pm at the “Jest In Time Family Fun Stage.”
- Must check in by 2:30pm at the Community Connections booth.
Rules
- Entry eligible for boys and girls ages 0-4.
- Only one winner per family per weekend.
- There will be one winner per day (no multiple winners).
- Entrant can only enter to one contest per weekend (Ex. a person can’t enter for the Berry Best Dressed Baby Contest and the Berry Best Strawberry Hat Contest).
- Child must be dressed in festive, strawberry-related attire to participate.
- Parent or legal guardian must register the child for entry into the contest at the Community Connections booth at the Festival 1 hour prior to show time (2:30pm) the day of their participation.
- If the child is registering on Saturday – he/she must compete in the Saturday competition. If the child is registering on Sunday – he/she must compete on Sunday. The same child cannot compete both days.
- Parent or guardian must bring contestant’s proof of entry to the Jest in Time stage prior to going on stage in order to participate.
- A parent or guardian must escort his or her strawberry-dressed child across the stage.
- The child may walk across the stage or be carried by a parent/guardian.
- After all contestants have made their appearances on stage, the judging panel will choose a winner based on his or her outfit’s creativity and presentation.
- The winner will then be awarded a prize package including a photography session with Toki Lee Photography, a meeting with modeling agents Zuri Model & Talent, a child couture outfit by Luna Luna Copenhagen, and a $100 gift certificate to Tierra Sur Restaurant of Herzog Wine Cellars.
- The Festival retains the right to photograph each contestant and use their likeness for promotional purposes.
Berry Best Hat Contest
- Grand Prize Vacation to Maui, Hawaii or Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Put the Kentucky Derby to shame with your own berry-creation bonnet.
- Attend the Festival with sensational strawberry “bling” on your crown, and you could win an exotic vacation getaway.
- The contest gets underway after 3:00pm with a parade on the Festival Stage.
- Must be 18 or older and check in by 2:00pm at the Community Connections booth.
Berry Best Dance Contest Presented by Coca-Cola
- Prize $500 cash prize
- Put your best foot forward and groove to the beat.
- Five teams of five have 30 minutes to learn a one-minute dance routine from an expert choreographer.
- The “dance-off” performance begins at 12:00pm daily at the Festival Stage with the crowd deciding which team wins $500.
- Listen to B95.1-FM to win a spot on a team, or sign up at the Community Connections booth by 10:30am to be on a reserve list.
- No age limit.
Strawberry Tart Toss at 11:00am and 2:30pm daily
- In your face fun at the Contest Area.
- Sign up 30 minutes prior to each event, entry fee $1.
Strawberry Pie Eating at 1:00pm and 4:00pm daily
- A timed challenge you can really sink your teeth into.
- Contestants are challenged to devour every last bite of a yummy strawberry pie — no fork or spoon allowed.
Strawberry Relay Race at 5:00pm daily
- A team timed challenge where participants go through a set of obstacles to gather fixings for a strawberry dish the teammate must devour in record time.
