On Wednesday, May 21 from 3pm to 7pm is the grand opening of the NEW Pleasant Valley Certified Farmers’ Market & Crafter’s Corner, a partnership between the Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association (VCCFMA) and the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District (PVRPD). The new market will be held on Wednesdays each week at the Community Center Park, 1605 E. Burnley Street.
According to officials, the market was founded as a way for the PVRPD to add another healthy lifestyle opportunity for Camarillo residents and as a way to bring additional funding to the District for programs. “We are so pleased to be part of this new venture in Camarillo and look forward to providing residents with new and exciting products,” stated Karen Schott, Operations Manager for the Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association. “It’s a great way to get families shopping & eating together while having fun,” she added.
Approximately 30 farmers will participate and will bring fresh, field ripened fruits and vegetables from California in addition to herbs, honey, eggs, olive oil, jams, jellies, cut flowers and potted plants. In addition, artisan bakeries, beef ranchers and local fisherman will participate along with specialty ethnic foods and hot cooked foods, providing complete meal choices for families.
In addition to the fresh farm offerings, the new market will also feature artisan craft vendors who will be rotated each week and displayed on the adjacent lawn area. Special PVRPD events such as movie nights, music, kid’s games and more will also take place alongside the new market adding to the experience in the summer months.

The Ventura County Certified Farmers’ Market Association is a not-for-profit farmers’ cooperative formed in 1985. To participate in a VCCFMA market, all producers must raise, catch, gather, grow or other produce the product they sell. Growers of all agricultural items are certified by the County Agricultural Commissioner with an onsite inspection and specific market permits. The Pleasant Valley Certified Farmers’ Market and Crafter’s Corner now joins as the fifth farmers market in the VCCFM.
