Celebrity Artists Join with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley to Honor Local Youth & Volunteers during the 12th Annual ‘Superstars of the Year’ Celebration on March 22nd from 2:30PM to 5:30PM.

The public is invited to attend this free, annual event, which is open to all ages and recognizes local youth and volunteers who have made a significant contribution. The event takes place in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
The afternoon includes an exciting line-up of celebrity stars who will host, perform and meet and greet the audience before the show and during intermission. Event co-sponsors for the ‘Superstars of the Year’ are Morton Capital Management and Regency Theatres. The Program Sponsor is the Dr. Richard Grossman Community Foundation.
The afternoon also calls for musical, dance and drama performances by the members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley. The special highlight of the afternoon is the awarding of the Youth of the Year. A winner will be selected from two categories, 14-18 years old and 13 years old and younger. Winners will be recognized with a cash prize and certificates from local businesses. The youth in the 14-18 year old category can go on to participate in area coastal, state and regional competitions with an opportunity to win $50,000 in scholarships awarded by the President of the United States.
The Boys & Girls Clubs is thrilled to partner with Cabrillo Music Theatre this year. In addition to Cabrillo’s Mary Poppins performing a selection of songs on the Superstars stage with some added surprise character friends, two groups within the Cabrillo Music Theatre – Kabrillo Kids, talented youth performers and Cabrillo Teen Project, a teen female performance group will entertain guests outside the theatre as they arive.
The upcoming production of Cabrillo Music Theatre’s Mary Poppins, is scheduled April 17-26 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. As an added bonus, Cabrillo Music Theatre generously donated two Mary Poppins orchestra seats that will be raffled off at the Superstars event: one ticket for $2.00, three tickets for $5.00.

Adding to the festivities, the afternoon includes a Silent Auction with merchandise donated by the local community and a Raffle featuring a pair of orchestra seats for the Mary Poppins production in April.
The entertainment provided by several of the celebrities include:
- Alyson Stoner, Host – Alyson, 21 years old is known for her role in ‘Lionsgate’s Step Up franchise, Disney’s Camp Rock movies and Fox’s Cheaper By the Dozen 1 & 2. A ‘triple threat’, Alyson also receives acclaim for voicing over 30 characters for DreamWorks, Sony, Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network and more.
- Dexter Darden, Co-Host – Dexter Darden, 23 years old is an accomplished singer, actor and dancer. He recently completed ‘Scorch Trails’, a sequel to the fall 2014 blockbuster, ‘Maze Runner’. He also starred in ‘Joyful Noise’ with Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton in addition to the movie, ‘Minuteman’.
- Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Small, Performer – Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Small can be seen opposite George Lopez, Marisa Tomei and Jamie Lee Curtis in the feature film, ‘Spare Parts’. Television fans may remember her from her series regular role on the Discovery Kids program, ‘Hip Hop Harry’.
- Maile Flanagan, Presenter & ‘Meet & Greet’ – Maile Flanagan plays Principal on Disney XD’s Lab Rats and has voiced the lead in the hit cartoon Naruto for over 500 episodes. In 2006, she won an Emmy (also nominated in 2007) for Outstanding Performer in an animated program for ‘Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks’. She had recurring role on Shameless, Bad Teacher and The Class. She has also performed in other numerous films and animated voiced characters. Maile won the LA Weekly Award for ‘Female Comedy Performance’ for her role in Justin Tanner’s play, Day Drinkers.
- Cameron Boyce, Presenter – Cameron Boyce has been a series regular on the four seasons of ‘Jessie’ on the Disney Channel and will now have his own Disney XD Series, ‘Gamers Guide’ which follows a professional teenage video gamer, Conor. Cameron performs comedy and dance in addition to stunt work and voiceovers.
- Ashleigh Maree Ross, ‘Meet & Greet’ – Ashleigh Maree Ross starred in the Australian Disney Mary Poppins as one of the two children. She is an extraordinary dancer and actress. Ashleigh will be on hand to meet and greet the crowd.
- Kym Gold, ‘Meet & Greet’ – Fashion trendsetter, ardent philanthropist and mother of three, Kym Gold is the visionary who co-created True Religion Brand jeans, a major retail clothing company. Author of Book Gold Standard to release September 2015 Skyhorse Publisher, the new all-tell book highlights Kim’s savvy business and fashion branding experience of 30 years. Kim will be on hand to meet and greet the crowd.
At the event, attendees will also have an opportunity to download a version of Katy Perry’s song, ‘Roar’ that was performed at last year’s event by artists Chrystina Sayers, Ashlee Keating, Post Ali along with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo alumni, Troy Sylvester, Devin Papadol and Kyle Warner.
