CHANNEL ISLANDS SAFE BOATING EXPO IS SATURDAY

The 11th Annual Channel Islands Harbor Safe Boating Expo will take place on Saturday, May 14th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Coast Guard station at 4201 S. Victoria Ave., Oxnard. This event is free to the public and is โ€ฏChannel Islands participation in National Safe Boating Week.

 

During the 11th Annual Safe Boating Expo at Channel Islands Harbor, public tours will be available at the USCG docks on an 87' U.S. Coast Guard Coastal Cutter and a 45' Response Boat. These boats conduct critical Homeland Security Operations, Search & Rescue, and Fisheries and Maritime Law Enforcement, also tour other First Responders.

Offshore Air, Sea, & Fire Rescue Demos 11:00am & 2:00 pm:
Ventura County Sheriff’s Rescue, Channel Islands Harbor Patrol, Ventura County Fire Dept, Oxnard Fire Department, Coast Guard Helicopter, and Gold Coast Ambulance.

Safety Demos 9:00 am to 4:00 pm:
Fire Extinguishers, Flares, Life Jackets, First Aid, Kayaking, Scuba Diving & more.



Agency Booths and Displays:
Ventura County Fire Dept, Oxnard Fire Dept, Navy League, Ventura Sheriff Rescue, Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, National Weather Service, Channel Islands National Park, Red Cross, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Ventura Sail and Power Squadron, Channel Islands Harbor Patrol, National Parks Rangers, Department of Fish and Wildlife, Vessel Assist and others.

Vendor Demos: 
Local vendors will demonstrate the latest in safety products including the use of flares and give hands-on training in using a fire extinguisher. The latest types and styles of life jackets will be demonstrated.
