Neighborhoods That Go All Out With FREE Holiday Light Displays

In Camarillo, Oxnard, Moorpark and Woodland Hills

By Angie Neuberger December 16, 2024
One of the highlights each December is to go to various neighborhoods in Ventura County and catch all the very cool light displays that our neighbors and friends have created in their neighborhoods. So I thought I would start a list of where you can stroll and see Christmas Lights for FREE in local cities. These are not individual homes with lights but rather neighborhoods that go all out.

CAMARILLO
Gemini Street: The top spot for viewing Christmas lights in Camarillo is on Gemini Street in Camarillo. The homes on Gemini Street and Waverly Avenue south of Dunnigan Street in Camarillo are annually lit up and decorated with cartoon characters, trains, Santa's, snowmen, and plenty of lights and other decorations to celebrate the holiday season. You can choose to drive it or to walk it. To get there take Arneill Street North past Ponderosa to Dunnigan. Turn right on Dunnigan and Gemini is the 4th street on your right.

Village at the Parks: The whole neighborhood is usually decorated pretty festive, but the highlight is the house on Gazebo with the light up tree that is bigger than their house next to a singing animatronic Frosty the snowman. Kudos to this family that also puts on a neighborhood event once a year with snow and photos with Santa.

Ventura

Foss Family Holiday Light Show: Synchronized to 18 songs with 3128 pixels and singing bulbs.  Runs 6-9pm every night in Dec 2024. 1242 Cimarron Ave, Ventura.  Tune to FM 98.9 or scan their posted QR code for music.  Super fun for the kids!

Langley Light Show: Another synchronized light show about a mile down the road from the Foss family. 9338 Santa Margarita Rd, Ventura. This house runs nightly from 5pm- 10pm

OXNARD

Christmas Tree Lane: Decorations are on from 6PM though 10PM every night, starting the second Sunday of December through December 26th on F & G Streets between 5th & Palm. Stroll or drive through one of Ventura County’s largest holiday light displays in the Henry T. Oxnard National Historic District. Residents provide all holiday decorations and lighting.

Christmas Tree Lane Visitor Tips:
  • Decorations are on from 6PM though 10PM every night.
  • Visitors are asked not to walk in private yards or driveways, unless allowed by residents.
  • Visitors can walk the route (the best way to fully take it all in) by parking on adjacent side streets and making the 10 block loop. Warm attire is recommended.
  • Trash receptacles are provided by the City of Oxnard at most intersections.
  •  Portable restrooms have been available since 2007 at 3rd and F Streets.
  • Visitors in vehicles are asked to keep headlights on for safety reasons.
  • In 2008 guided weeknight Trolley Tours were added that included a loop through downtown’s Heritage Square and Plaza Park’s Christmas displays of Ventura County’s tallest Christmas tree (over 110 feet) and 30,000 computer-synchronized lights on the historic Plaza Park Pagoda Bandstand.
  • Please respect the privacy of all residents. Please keep children attended with adults at all times, do not allow them to touch or climb on any exhibits - this is for their own safety!
  • Please be courteous when the crowds are larger on weekends and the sidewalks are congested.

MOORPARK
Candy Cane Lane: Pinedale in Moorpark: View a neighborhood that has taken Christmas decorations to new heights. You will find this on Pinedale Rd, Clearwood Rd, Cedardale Rd, and surrounding streets in Moorpark, daily from 5pm to 10pm.

WOODLAND HILLS

Woodland Hills Candy Cane Lane: Candy Cane Lane is a group of homeowners at Lubao & Oxnard Streets in Woodland Hills who collectively decide each year to put on an amazing holiday display of lights and decorations. It begins on the 2nd Saturday of December and lasts through the end of the year. It's located at the intersection of Lubao and Oxnard Streets (by Pierce Collage) in Woodland Hills. People drive slowly down the street with their headlights dimmed so that everyone can enjoy the lights. The closest exit is Winnetka, off of the 101 freeway.
