There are many restrictions on celebrating Halloween this year. While Halloween is NOT cancelled, the previous years way to celebrate the holiday with our kids have drastically changed. With masks and social distancing requirements many events have redone themselves so they can follow safety protocols. Here are some events I have found in our general area that you can do while using your car for social distancing.
Nights of the Jack Drive-Thru Halloween Experience
LOCATED IN CALABASAS

Due to Covid-19 and our concern for everyone’s health and safety, we have shifted Nights of the Jack to a DRIVE-THRU Halloween experience for this season! Our new extended driving trail will feature thousands of hand-carved and illuminated Jack O’ Lanterns as attendees make their way around King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, CA. Immerse yourself in an instagrammable Halloween wonderland and experience what everyone is talking about!
NIGHTS OF THE JACK is a family friendly DRIVE-THRU Halloween experience. Expect to see some larger than life pumpkin installations as well as detailed artist depictions of your favorite movie stars, sports heroes and animated characters.
The driving trail itself is approximately one mile long and it is self-guided from your vehicle. Visitors are welcome to experience the attractions at a 5MPH speed limit. Most guests will spend about 25 minutes on the trail.
TIP: Unfortunately, due to strict LA County Health Department regulations, NO restrooms will be made available for ticketholders this season as no one will be permitted to leave their vehicle. If regulations should change in the coming weeks and we are able to provide a restroom option, we will keep everyone updated.
Haunt O' Ween Drive-Thru Experience
LOCATED IN WOODLAND HILLS
AGES: ALL AGES
October 9-30
Times vary by date but some start at 3pm and can go as late as 8:30pm
A MASSIVE all-ages-friendly drive-thru experience. Keep the fun traditions and excitement of Halloween alive in a safe, engaging, interactive & immersive format. Windows down, masks on!
- Pumpkin "Picking" (1 pumpkin per vehicle from our heavily themed patch. Additional pumpkins available for purchase)
- "Door to Door" Trick or Treating in our 2 street 10-12 home neighborhood.
- Live costumed actors and other socially distanced delivery methods assist with candy giveaways (enough candy for everyone!)
- Video & Photo Op from the 90’ Jack-O-Lantern Tunnel plus prop and backdrop stop! (sent to your email)
- Immersive Installations & Heavily decorated vignettes (photo friendly environments to enjoy)
- Mesmerizing Journey the entire family will enjoy! Costumes encouraged!
The experience will last between 25-35 minutes. We recommend guests arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time slot during peak hours.
All guests will be required to stay in their vehicles. Windows down is optional, however, masks will be required to do so. Security and staff along the route will enforce rules and ask guests that do not comply to leave. Costumed (masked) live actors inside the experience will stay 6' away from vehicles. Giveaway pumpkins will be sanitized and placed in a plastic bag for you to retrieve from a drive-up container (or placed in your trunk if requested). Candy will be wrapped and served via extended container by event staff.
The Haunted Barnyard - A Drive-Thru Experience
LOCATED IN SANTA CLARITA
AGES: 13+
October 22nd, 23rd, 27th - 31st, November 5th & 6th 2020
Starting at 7:30pm and will promptly end at 11:00pm
Drive through our interactive terrifyingly haunted barnyard of nightmares! See if you can escape from the Funhouse, journey through our Zombie Infested Graveyard, take caution entering the Insane Asylum, find your way out of the Haunted Woods, navigate the Ghostly Maze, and a few surprises that will scare your socks off.
The Haunted Barnyard concept is an exciting immersive drive-thru experience in Santa Clarita curated by a team of designers including a film and themed park set designer, set dressers, costume designers and makeup artists from Universal Studios Horror Nights, Knott's Scary Farm and Six Flags Fright Fest. Your unsuspecting passengers or (victims) will get the scare of a lifetime in The Gentle Barn’s transformed land of nightmares. Wind your way through a multitude of ghastly scenes while being guided by a ghostly audio with sound effects in the safety of your own vehicle!
NOTE ABOUT AGES: Recommended for ages 13+. Younger children may come at their parents' discretion and will be charged as passengers.
Joe Bob's Haunted Drive-In Film Festival
LOCATED IN LOS ANGELES
AGES: TEENS AND ADULTS

A brand-new Halloween haunt experience, Joe Bob's Haunted Drive-In blends a film festival of horror short films with a live zombie invasion. As drive-in expert/horror host Joe Bob Briggs and his friends appear on screen to present the films, real zombies will take over the drive-in, interacting with the crowd and on-screen entertainment to create a scary, fun, and immersive night unlike any other!
The short films with the Joe Bob Briggs commentary will be approximately 90 mins. The pre-show with load-in, pre-show audio entertainment, and trailers will be another 30 mins to 1hour. So if you arrive when the gates open, you can expect at least 2+ hours of fun and entertainment!
NOTE ABOUT AGES: If the films were rated, they’d be in the PG-13 to R rated category. You may see some blood, guts, decapitations, disembowelments, severed limbs, and frightening terror. If your kid already loves horror films, then it’s up to you!
Stranger Things Drive Into Experience

LA Haunted Hayride: Live Drive Up Experience

A first of its kind immersive experience from the creators of LA's favorite Halloween event. Not just a drive in! Experience this reimagined haunted “drive up”. An original haunted show featuring a multimedia story displayed on a 40 foot screen, as well as horrifying sets and characters from Midnight Falls that surround the theater and bring the story to life!
Your entryway to the defunct Midnight “Drive-In” Theater is All Hallows Lane, a creepy stretch of road straight out of any horror movie. This sets the stage as you brace yourself for the ultimate theatrical drive-in horror experience! Rising from the dead is Horror Movie Host, Monte Revolta, to assume management of the theater. With the help of his Minions of the Living Dead, they will bring the latest and gravest in terrifying sights and sounds to life as they host Monte Revolta’s Monster Movie Spooktacular featuring original content as well as creepy short films from (shh, tba).
Urban Legends Drive Thru Haunt

Drive-thru Halloween haunt at the OC Fair & Event Center. Guests will enjoy in the safety of their own vehicle a drive-thru where scare seekers will experience immersive story-telling and terrifying sets. Guests will be entertained by live performances through-out their drive, plus experience 4 interactive show zones and an immersive show of lights, sound, special effects and monsters will come alive.
Family Friendly Night is on Oct 31st from 5pm to 7pm: Join us for Little Legends night. We’ll be running a special “not so spooky” haunt designed for families with children under the age of 13. Come in costume and decorate your car and be a part of our Spooktacular parade! There will be COVID safe goody bags of packaged candy and all participants must remain in their cars to participate.
