TRICK OR TREAT SO OTHERS CAN EAT

Trick or Treat for Cans of Food Instead of Candy and Help FOOD Share

October 23, 2011

TRICK OR TREAT SO OTHERS CAN EAT (TOTSOCE) is a multiple community service project organized by Ventura County 4-H to benefit FOOD Share*.

The way this project works is that youth volunteers collect cans of food and other nonperishable food items  thru November 9th to benefit  FOOD Share in Ventura County.

Groups, Individuals, Churches and Schools are invited to TRICK OR TREAT SO OTHERS CAN EAT. The more the merrier. Here are some easy ways to have fun collecting this Halloween season!

  1. Dress up and go trick-or-treating on October 31st – ask for canned food instead of candy! (Hint: they usually give you candy too!)
  2. Go door-to-door in your neighborhood during the collection period, Oct 17-Nov 7. (Be sure you always have an adult with you!)
  3. Organize a food drive at your school, church or employer. You can contact FOOD Share to have collection bins dropped off and picked up for donations over 200 lbs.
  4. Organize a food drive outside of a local grocery store.
  5.  Host a Halloween party with your friends and charge 2 cans of food for admission!
