A REVIEW OF UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD GRINCHMAS

Check Out Who-Ville With The Kids This Holiday Season

By Harold Rosenthal, Co-Publisher December 11, 2011

From December 17 through January 1, 2012, a very, merry "Grinchmas" returns to Universal Studios Hollywood as the theme park rings in a jolly Who-liday season with the Grinch, his faithful dog Max, tons of fresh snow and nightly celebrity readings of the Dr. Seuss classic, "How The Grinch Stole Christmas."

And this weekend Macaroni Kid Camarillo was invited to come to Universal Studios Hollywood and check out the park and  the Grinchmas attraction for the holiday season.

What I discovered is that on normal days the park is packed with lots of fun for young and old.  It includes scary rides, entertaining shows, play areas, restaurants, shops and of course the famous studio and back lot tour.

Characters can be found throughout the park including Shrek, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, Curious George, Woody Woodpecker, Beetlejuice, and Scooby Doo.  They take pictures and if time permits plays with the children and fans.

Plus for the holiday season the park has added  some really fun  holiday attractions that makes the visit  extra special  for both children and adults at this time of year.  One of my favorite parts of the day was the winter wonderland snow area that surounds a Whoville Christmas Tree.  We had a blast playing in the snow, making a snow man and throwing snowballs at each other.

Several times a night they light the Christmas tree, which we loved seeing.

And for kids that like making crafts, there is also an area where you can decorate Gingerbread cookies and color your own Grinch buttons which they make right in front of you.

Plus to make your Grinchmas extra special, they  have celebrity readings of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas which are highly popular and have long lines. We also hopped onto the tram for the studio tour and while it is always interesting and fun seeing the backlot and hearing the history and stories behind the sets, one of the highlights is the  stop in Whoville with the Grinch, and where the rest of the characters sing songs from the movie.

While we found the trip to Universal Studios very special, going during Grinchmas is even more fun than during the off holiday season.

"Grinchmas" is included in the price of theme park admission. Tickets are $77 for anyone three and older, but Universal Studios has  this special promotion for the holidays, "Buy A Day, Get 2012 Free" annual pass. So for $77 you can visit Universal Studios now and throughout 2012.

More information, including updates on the "Grinchmas" celebrity readings, will be available at www.UniversalStudiosHollywood.com.
