Capture Camarillo’s beautiful community, people, places, and landscapes and submit your favorite photographs incorporating Camarillo and the Summer Reading Program themes. Entering is easy. It is free and you can submit your entries by email to win some really great prizes in the kids, teens and adult categories. (See below for instructions on how to enter)

CATEGORIES AND THEMES
- Children (11 and under): “Dream Big” —What are your dreams? What do you want to do when you grow up? What’s your biggest wish? How does all of this relate to your community of Camarillo Example: I dream of becoming an Animal Doctor. Pictures could possibly include your pet, or the local rescue in Camarillo.
- Teens ( ages 12 – 18): “Own The Night”— What do you do in Camarillo? How do you “own” fun time after school, during the summer, and on weekends? Example: Pictures could include your favorite place to go in the evening or a picture of a friend doing an activity at sunset.
- Adults (ages 19 +): “Between the Covers” —What’s your favorite story “Between the BOOK covers?” What are you reading this summer? Example: Favorite Book – Steve Job’s biography. Photos could include people using their iPads or an iPad displayed at your favorite place in Camarillo.
Your images are not limited to the examples above. Use your imagination, your book(s) and your favorite
places as you weave the Summer Reading Program themes and Camarillo together.
IMAGE REQUIREMENTS
- All entries must be original work of the person listed as the contestant.
- Photos must have been taken in 2012.
- Images from a digital camera set at no less than 3 mega pixels high resolution or digitally scanned if from a non-digital camera must be in JPG digital format at a file size of between 3 megabytes (minimum) and 9 megabytes (maximum) at 300 dpi (dots per inch) of sufficient resolution to print at 8 by 10 inch size without a loss of quality.
- Photos must reflect the theme/category correct to the contestant’s age.
- Limit: up to 3 enteries (emails) per contestant
- Photo submissions will be accepted beginning Sunday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. and no later than August 31 by 8:00 p.m. No late submissions wil be accepted.
- File names for JPG/ JPEG (generated by the digital camera or scan) must be CHANGED and NAMED as follows: first and last name of contestant, and short title of photograph without using capital letters, spaces, underlines or dashes. For example, if Anna Hurd entered a photo she would rename her photo entry: annahurdipadpic.jpg.
- Impact 35%: Effect on viewer – creativity storytelling quality, catches the eye, holds attention.
- Composition 35% : Arrangement of the elements – contains few or no distracting or unnecessary elements, all arranged to tell story and lead the eye into picture.
- Technical Quality 20%:The photograph is clear and sharp, shows details in areas where appropriate.
- Camarillo focus 10% :The photograph features positive promotion of City of Camarillo.
- Limit: up to 3 entries (emails) per contestant in any combination of categories.
- Attach only ONE image file per email and send to: photo@camarillolibrary.org
- For each email the contestant MUST supply all the following information:
- On the email subject line enter: photo contest entry by [your name] and age category
- In the message area enter: First and last name of contestant
- Indicate the age category
- Email address
- Contact phone number
- Date and location where photo was taken
- Attach to the email: Signed and completed ENTRY AGREEMENT
