Celebrate "Viva La Familia" in Santa Barbara August 1st Thru 5th

Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara is an annual festival that honors and preserves Santa Barbara’s rich history, spirit, culture, heritage and traditions. This year's event will take place August 1-5 and feature the Fiesta theme "Viva La Familia". Most events are free of charge.

The annual event is a major event for the city of Santa Barbara. It serves as an education and reminder to residents and visitors about the very special history, customs, and traditions of the American Indian, Spanish, Mexican, and early American settlers that comprise the rich cultural heritage of Santa Barbara.

Old Spanish Days Fiesta is not only a unique forum for the cultural expression of Santa Barbara's rich diversity, but it also provides a vehicle for the non-profit and community service groups to raise funds for their local charities and social service organizations. The event is very popular with residents and vistors and annually draws thousands of visitors from around the world who contribute to the local economy.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FESTIVAL
  • Experience El Desfile Histórico, (Aug 3rd at noon) one of the largest equestrian parades in the United States as it proceeds down the west end of Cabrillo Boulevard, proceeds east along the beach to State Street, then up State Street to Sola Street.
  • Experience the Children's Parade, Desfile de los Niños (Aug 4th at 10am) as it proceeds down State Street, from Victoria to Ortega Streets.
  • Enjoy the thrills at the Rodeo, click HERE for the schedule of events.
  • Visit the Arts and Crafts show  (Aug 4 & 5 from 10am to 7pm) along the beautiful Santa Barbara coastline.
