This weekend we were guests of the Jim Henson Company as they celebrated Dinosaur Train at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. (To see pictures from this event, go our Facebook Page). The event was designed to get kids and parents excited about “Big Big Dinosaur Week” on PBS with brand new episodes of Dinosaur Train that will premiere August 13 on PBS KIDS.
Throughout the week of August 13-17, 2012, "Big Big Dinosaur Week" will feature four new episodes that follow Buddy, Shiny, Tiny and Don as they discover the largest of the dinosaur species while exploring their natural surroundings. They'll also learn about nocturnal and diurnal animals, sunrises and sunsets, natural art, and geysers. The kick-off episode begins aboard the DINOSAUR TRAIN when the Pteranodon family gets the idea to travel around and meet some of the biggest dinosaurs. They even sing the song ”The Biggest Dinosaurs,” before meeting Allie Alamosaurus, an enormous and friendly long-necked, plant eating sauropod. Encore broadcasts will run from August 17 to 19th (check local listings).

We really had a wonderful time at the Dinosaur Train Day that we attended. We got to meet Buddy, hear a concert from Craig Bartlett, who created Dinosaur Train and sings all the songs for the show and explore the many fun exhibits at the Los Angeles Natural History Museum.
In honor of "Big Big Dinosaur Week", the Jim Henson Company has given Macaroni Kid Camarillo-Oxnard-Ventura a Big, BIG Dinosaur Train Giant Coloring Book to review and to give away. The book now available from Golden Books, features Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don, and their super-sized dinosaur friends from Dinosaur Train.
It features 40 oversized pages to color, more than 50 stickers, and a built-in handle for carrying anywhere. My kids had a wonderful time coloring the pages of the book and decorating the pages with all their favorite Dinosaur Train friends. The handle makes it super easy to carry from room to room.
