Are you or are your kids into art? Well this weekend join the Spring Paint Ventura event and festival as the event brings together local art, environmental education and several pet rescue groups for a fun weekend of activities in Downtown Ventura.
Paint Ventura’s 5th free creative adventure is April 27th from 11am to 5pm featuring a variety of Plein Air Artists creating, selling and teaching in downtown Ventura. Most events are FREE to the public. Paint Ventura is an events that seeks to encourage people of all ages to visually explore historic Downtown Ventura’s art scene and a variety of California creative individuals.
Ventura Rotaract and Interact will be conducting several fun free kids workshops in art and the environment A wide variety of free kids activities including chalk drawing, painting, face painting, puppet shows, sidewalk recess, animal photo contest and other activities will take place throughout the day.
This year the event has partnered with several local animal rescue groups (Cabo Dogz, Indie Lab Rescue, SPAN among others), Ventura Rotaract, Chasing Sunshine, and the art students of Ventura High to create a truly unique family experience.

- Join the Indie Lab Rescue with your pup any time between 11-4pm to have them make their very own PawCasso flower painting that you can take home with you.
- Bring the kids for a fun animal puppet show at the CABO DOGZ booth all day from 11-4pm as well. Plus SPAN will have several art pieces donated by local artists that they will be raffling off to help them raise money to prevent overpopulation of Ventura’s Animals.
One of the highlights of the day is the “Paint Ventura Umbrella Art Fair and Paint Out” ! Artists of All Mediums will be participating in an umbrella art show where they will be creating art, selling their pieces and conducting workshops.
The 300 block of Main St will be closed and the festival will be both in the street and the Mini Park featuring local artists exhibiting in locations in Downtown Ventura. Live entertainment by several local acoustic musicians and a wide variety of street performers will add to the ambiance.
Plein Air painters will be participating in out Paint Out in the mini park in downtown, working to create paintings from scratch giving the public the opportunity to see who an artist beings a piece of work.

Several Chalk artists from Ventura High School will set up camp in the Mini Park all day creating temporary 3D art instillations for the public to see and interact with. Join them in the fun and create your own chalk painting along the sidewalks.
HIGHLIGHTS
- 12pm in the Mini Park Art From Junk Learn to create your own unique recycled sculpture in this fun free workshop
- 1:30pm in the Mini Park Be An Environmental Superhero - Make your own superhero cape in this fun class and learn how to protect the world we live in.
- 3pm in the Mini Park Dolphin Art - Create your own dolphin picture
