Last weekend, I took the family down to San Diego so we could check out SeaWorld® San Diego. It has been several years since I have been to the park and it was a trip I will definitely be making again soon.
From Shamu Rocks to all the wonderful exhibits and animals SeaWorld® San Diego is an adventure that your family will love no matter what their age. My 2 year old LOVED the Kids Adventure Garden, viewing all the pink Flamingos, getting up close with the Dolphins, and rides in the fun zone at Sesame Street Bay of Play.
My older daughters had a fantastic time touching Starfish in the California Tide Pool, seeing live Turtles swim in the Turtle Reef, viewing live Sharks at the Shark Encounter, seeing the dolphins at Dolphin Point and encountering Penguins at the Penguin Encounter. Plus don't miss watching Sea Lions frolic at Pacific Point and exploring the Wild Arctic throught the glass windows. No matter what age you are, you will love seeing all the sea animals up close and personal.
The park also has character meet and greets from Franklin the Turtle to Elmo and all your kids favorite Sesame Street friends. Plus after June 15th the characters from Madagascar will also be doing meet and greets with SeaWorld® San Diego guests.
In addition to the animal encounters SeaWorld® San Diego also offers some wonderful animal shows and this Summer you can catch the Madagascar Live! Operation: Vacation, live musical show featuring the characters from DreamWorks "Madagascar" in the park's renovated Mission Bay Theater.

SHOWS
Dolphins fly, birds dive and spirits leap in Blue Horizons®, the show at SeaWorld. This show has it all with soaring birds, playful dolphins and thrilling aerialists that create this amazing show of dance, flight, color and entertainment.
You will not want to miss the all NEW Shamu show called One Ocean® during the day and Shamu Rocks at night. The energy and spirit of the ocean and Shamu will amaze you as the show entertains as it educates and inspires. Shamu is an amazing killer whale who we cheered for and fell in love with during this show. Dancing fountains set the stage as you enjoy watching this energetic and fun show. The arena is huge and there is a wet area, sit there if you want to get super wet, or bring a rain poncho because you will get soaked sitting in those seats.
Another show we loved was the Pet's Rule Animal Show. This family pet show is full of high-energy and lots of laughs. Dogs, cats, birds and potbellied pigs will entertain and amaze you with tricks and fun as they perform during this show.
A really fun show my kids loved was the Sea Lion LIVE. We had a wonderful time watching this hilarious show performed by SeaWorld’s® resident sea lion comedy team—Clyde and Seamore and you do not want to miss“Sea Lion Idol.”
RIDES
In addition to all the wonderful shows for your family, SeaWorld® San Diego, has rides for kids of all ages. The Sesame Street Bay of Play area includes three rides that even the youngest child can ride like Elmo’s Flying Fish, Oscar’s Rocking Eel and Abby’s Sea Star Spin.
Teens and adults will love Manta, a coaster that immerses you in the beautiful and mysterious world of rays then takes you on a roller coaster thrill ride aboard the biggest ray of them all.
We also had a wonderful time riding the Skytower and the Bayside Skyride. Both really let you see the park from all angles and the top of the sky. Even my two year old loved the Skyride.
Want to get wet? SeaWorld has some really fun rides guaranteed to get you soaked. Enjoy Riptide Rescue and see what it feels like to go on your own sea turtle rescue mission when you climb aboard the yellow rafts of Riptide Rescue.
In Journey to Atlantis, you get both a roller coaster and water ride. It's a water ride that combines soaking flume fun, thrilling coaster action and amazing special effects as you journey to a lost civilization of Atlantis.
One of our all-time favorite rides at SeaWorld is the Shipwreck Rapids ride. It is loads of fun as you ride the fantastic wild rapids. In this ride you board a tube-style raft and ride a winding river at the heart of a peaceful island. Whirl, swirl, splash and crash through playful rapids and foaming whitewater, then plunge through a waterfall into an underground cavern. This is a super fun ride that my 5 year old and 8 year love riding over and over again.
Be sure and bring an extra set of clothes, a towel and a bathing suit as this is one amusement park which you will get wet in. There is even a water play area by the Sesame Street Bay of Play area for kids to frolic in.
SeaWorld San Diego is open year-round. Park admission is $78 for ages 10 and older; $70 for ages 3 to 9.
