A MACARONI KID REVIEW OF MONSTER JAM®
By Harold Rosenthal, Elizabeth (age 8), and Victoria (age 6)
The highlight this year for my daughters were the two trucks driven by women (Monster Mutt Dalmation and El Toro Loco), so those became two of their favorites. Each of the trucks were creatively decorated and named with a specific theme in mind. This creates a lot of fun and excitement and also played a major role in how my daughters chose which trucks they wanted to win, so Batman, Iron man, and Mohawk Warrior also became favorites.
The first part of the evening is a timed race where power and agility are the criteria of what makes a Monster Jam® winner. The second half is the freestyle event, where the drivers perform breathtaking stunts, many of which the kids and I found simply amazing. It was hard to believe how high they could get into the air, and how a few righted themselves after appearing to have wrecked.
Aside from Monster Jam®'s excitement and the amazement of watching the trucks in action, most of the drivers do a really great job of interacting with the fans. Several came into the stands to give away various items from their trucks or uniforms to random fans in the stands. This included Mohawk Warrior giving his Championship Trophy from the race part to a fan in the stands.
