5K Super Hero Costume Run/Walk and Downhill 1 Mile Run & Parade Is Saturday

The Ventura County Fair and Vendurance invite runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to participate in the Ventura County Fair 5K Super Hero Costume Run/Walk and Downhill 1 Mile Run on Saturday August 2nd in Downtown Ventura. Stick around after the run for the  Ventura County Fair Parade at 10am.

Ventura County Fair 5K Super Hero Costume Run/Walk and Downhill 1 Mile Run
The Ventura County Fair invites runners and walkers to participate in the annual Ventura County Fair 5K Super Hero Costume Run/Walk and Downhill 1 Mile Run. Runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser that benefits the Ventura County Fair Foundation and the Kensington Foundation.

Participants are encouraged to dress in Super Hero costumes, and awards will be given to the ten best dressed runners. Gather a group of friends or the whole family and walk or run together. There is even a 1-mile downhill race- perfect for either those who prefer to run quick, short distances or those who aren’t ready to run a 5K.

Check-in for both races will be at Mission Park. The 5K starts at Mission Park while the 1-Mile starts 1-mile up Main Street across from Memorial (Cemetery) Park. Runners will need to get to the start on their own (a nice warm-up jog.)

Schedule
  • 5K Start - 8:00am 
  • 1-Mile Start - 9:15am
  • 5K Check-In: 7:00am - 7:45am 
  • 1-Mile Check-In: 7:00am - 9:00am
Fees
  • Super Hero 5K ($35 Race Fee + $3.00 SignUp Fee)
  • Downhill 1-Mile ($25 Race Fee + $2.50 SignUp Fee)
The Course
  • The 5K course is a 2-loop course on Main Street starting and finishing at Mission Park.
  • The 1-Mile course is very downhill starting at Memorial Park and finishing at Mission Park. This course is FAST!!! (Starts at 145 feet elevation. Finishes at 22 feet.)
Awards will be given for the fastest times ineach 10-year age group. Make sure you stick around to watch the Ventura County Fair Parade, starting at 10am, and then go to the Ventura County Fair to make a full day of fun.

Ventura County Fair Parade @10am on Saturday, August 2
The 2014 Ventura County Fair invites the community to this year’s Ventura County Fair Parade. The theme is, “A Country Fair with Ocean Air. The parade starts after the 5K and 1 Mile Run on Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 a.m. on Main St. in Downtown Ventura.

This annual parade, brings the Ventura County community out in celebration. Local auto associations, marching bands, pep squads, city councils, charity organizations, businesses and community groups complete the lineup of this wonderful parade. 

At this parade, you’ll see fantastic antique cars! Local auto clubs such as the Ventura County Model A Club, Viejitos Car Club, SoCal Corvairs, Association de Carros BG and the Nite Life Car Club make appearances. See nine local high school marching bands at this amazing parade! Whether you’re a student or alumni, cheer on your alma mater. 

The Ventura County Fair parade celebrates county agriculture by featuring local agricultural businesses and organizations. Keep your eye out for the Topa Topa Flywheelers, an antique tractor association.

Wave hello to your favorite community organizations as they walk in the parade! At the parade, you’ll see organizations like the Ventura Elks Lodge #1430, the Al Malaikah Shriners, Ventura Boys & Girls Club, Job’s Daughters International, the Ventura County Scholarship Association, American Veterans United, the American Cancer Society, Rotary Club Ventura East, Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County, Moorpark Simi Valley Scholarship Association and Moms Across America.
