According to this year's event coordinator, Jesse Lee, “This will be a day for the entire family. There will be food and entertainment for all ages, as well as our traditional inflatables for the kids." The event this year will include a Costume Contest at 3PM and the Downtown Ventura stores will offer Trick or Treating from 4PM to 7PM.

For many years Open Classroom hosted a Harvest Moon Festival in early October while Downtown Ventura hosted a Spooktacular Festival at the end of October which included a costume contest and store to store trick or treating. This year the two groups are joining together and combining the two events into one big Harvest Moon Spooktacular.

“We’re all about kids and families,” said Lee.  “It’s a great place to go on a Saturday to enjoy a home-grown street fair, while supporting a local public school and our beloved Downtown Ventura.”

All proceeds from the event benefit Open Classroom K-8, located at Blanche Reynolds Elementary School. Open Classroom is an innovative Ventura Unified School District “school of choice” that emphasizes an individualized student-driven approach to learning.

“We are an innovative parent/teacher cooperative,” says Open Classroom PTO President Mitch Allen. “It’s a great environment for learning and growing, and a great community to be a part of.”
