The highlight of our January every year is attending Monster Jam®, as the kid's and I are HUGE fans and last week's event was just as much fun as previous years. If you haven't attended yet, be sure pick up tickets for the February 7 show at 7PM.
This year Feld Entertainment, who produces the show, invited us to check out the before the show fun with Pit Passes. Pit Passes are available to ticket holders for $10 per person before the show from 2:00PM – 5:00PM prior to each Saturday's event where you can check out the cars, meet the drivers and get autographs.
With a Pit Pass we were able to see the trucks up close, sit in some of the Dwarf Race Cars and meet several of the drivers. My daughters got their shirts autographed by the drivers, Jiffy Lube who is a sponsor, gave out baseballs we also got autographed and we took pictures with the drivers and the cars.
My daughter's favorite driver to meet was Candice Jolly, the female driver of Monster Mutt Dalmatian. All of the drivers were friendly and patient and great with the kids.
Jiffy lube is a sponsor and they had a wheel spin contest and several giveaways including squishy balls for the kids (which my girls also had the drivers autograph). They also had a jump activity for the kids and air brush tattoos. Lines were long early for those but near the end we all got air brush tattoos. In addition you can also ride on a Monster Truck for $10 a person. We LOVED the Pit Passes and it's well worth arriving early to attend.
Monster Jam got started at 7PM and was a lot of fun. Our favorites are Grave Digger, Mohawk Warrior, Monster Mutt Dalmatian and El Toro Loco. The first part of the evening is a timed race where power and agility make a winner.
The second half is a freestyle event, where the drivers perform breathtaking stunts. Our favorite stunts were when they flew the air and a few even did summersaults. Grave Digger actually jumped El Toro Loco which was upside down and left on the track for about half the free style event.
Aside from just the excitement and amazement of watching the trucks in action, most of the drivers do a great job of interacting with the fans. Several came into the stands to give away various items from their trucks or uniforms to random fans in the stands. This included the NEA driver giving his Championship Trophy from the race to a fan in the stands.
We had a marvelous time at Monster Jam and would highly recommend taking the family for a fun night out.
