Do your kid's end up bored every summer? Are you looking for a way for them to get more involved in the community? Camp Helping Hands (CHH) is back this summer in Camarillo on the campus of CSUCI and they are the perfect choice to not only entertain your kids but to also inspire them.

CHH is a service-learning summer camp located on college campuses at CSUCI and at CLU where for three weeks campers not only learn about their community but they also get to help serve it. Each week from July 13 to July 31 campers do service projects and attend field trips where they learn how to help make a difference in their community based on the theme "Serving What Serves Us," supporting the Earth, the People and the Animals who protect and serve our community.

SEE A SAMPLE CHH WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Week One: EARTH {July 13 - 17, 2015}
Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 9AM to 3PM.

During EARTH week, campers will learn all about land conservation as we team up with park service naturalists and rangers and go behind-the-scenes to catch a glimpse of how their work helps support one of our most valuable natural resources - land.

Partners this week will include the National Park Service, the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, Conejo Valley Open Space, and Conejo Recreation and Park District. Activities this week will include making needed items and baked gifts for our service partners and their volunteers, performing onsite service tasks during our Tuesday and Thursday field trips, playing sports and games, swimming, and making crafts.

Week Two: PEOPLE {July 20 - 24, 2015}
Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 9AM to 3PM.

PEOPLE week's focuses on those who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting others locally, nationally, and internationally. CHH has partnered with organizations that support the needs of veterans, deployed military personnel, and their families. We will also go behind-the-scenes with our local police force and fire department to learn more about how these local heroes protect and serve.

Activities this week will include working with our local senior center to make needed items for our service partners, performing on-site service tasks during our Tuesday and Thursday field trips, playing sports and games, swimming, and making crafts.

Week Three: ANIMALS {July 27 - July 31, 2015}
Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 9AM to 3PM.

ANIMAL week is all about animals that have been raised and trained to help serve humans in need. Guide Dogs of America will bring puppies-in-training to camp, providing an opportunity for campers to learn all about raising a guide dog, what characteristics and breeds make good guide dogs, and what it's like to be led by a guide dog. There will also be time for snuggling and petting. Other service animals visiting camp this week may include K9 dogs, rescue dogs, and service ducks.

Field trips this week will include a day of service at the Hogan Foundation's Rancho St. Francis Equine Program in Hidden Valley where campers will tour the beautiful facility, learn all about equine services, and have some quality time with these special horses.

Campers will also visit the Guide Dogs of America facility in Sylmar. Activities this week will include making needed items for our service partners, performing onsite service tasks during our Tuesday and Thursday field trips, playing sports and games, swimming, and making crafts.
