The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme offers some fun themed day camps and sports camps for kids entering 1st grade and up this year from June 22 – August 21. The day camps run Monday thru Friday from 9am to 2pm and sports camps run 9am to 2pm, with an option to start early and stay until 6pm at no additional cost.

Registration Info
  • A $25 dollar non-refundable deposit is required to hold your childs camp space.
  • Day camp fees are $90 per week and Sports Camps for Champs is $95 per week 
  • Please register in person Monday-Friday from 1-6 pm at any of the club locations

About Club Membership
  • All campers must be current registered Club members.
  • Club Membership is $20*
  • An annual Club membership allows a child to attend during Open Club time (Monday-Friday from noon - 6 pm) at no additional charge. 
  • Club members may attend the club from noon – 6 pm and not pay the camp rate.
FREE Snacks and Lunch
  • Snack & Lunch are served daily  to campers who participate in summer program. They receive free snack and lunch at the Club at no additional charge. 
  • The summer lunch program is served Monday through Friday from noon - 1 pm for all children, including Club members arriving for afternoon programs. 
The Port Hueneme and Oxnard Boys and Girls Club offers TWO different summer camp programs each week from June 22 to August 21 and a Club Member Drop In option that is included free with club membership.

Summer Day Camps {$90/week} run Monday - Friday, 9 am - 2 pm  and this camp is a structured program with weekly theme activities. All activities are planned around our mission statement and formula for impact using the five key elements for positive youth development. We provide a safe, positive environment, fun for our members, supportive relationships, opportunities, expectations and recognition. Summer Day Camp groups are separated by appropriate age, supporting positive youth development and they are Cubs: 6-8 OR Tigers: 9-11 OR Adventures: 12-14.

Schedule
  • Session 1: June 22-26 - Wacky World of Science Camp: Blast off to an exciting adventure of experiencing flight by building model airplanes, travel to the Planetarium for a space movie on the dome theater, or engineer and design your own model rocket and launch. Guest from the Oxnard Airport will speak to the camp. Field trip: California  Science Center.
  • Session 2:  June 29-July 2 - Celebration of Nations: Let’s take a trip around the nation. We’ll celebrate our nation’s independence with a summer BBQ/potluck and embrace the cultures that surround us. Campers will dress up in their favorite culture, play games representing that culture and learn more about each other. Field trip: local multicultural museum and music performance from diverse cultures.
  • Session 3:  July 6-10 - Sherlock Holmes Detective Camp: This camp introduces Club members to both Sherlock Holmes and forensic science. Campers will learn about Holmes and the methods he used to solve crimes and mysteries. Then, campers will apply these methods and “investigate” their own crime scene. A guest from Oxnard Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau will speak to the camp. Field trip: Marina Park Beach (to make footprints in the sand).
  • Session 4:  July 13-17 - Ooey Gooey! Be ready to get your hands dirty and enjoy the week dedicated to icky, sticky, squishy, slimy science. Members will take the truth or dare slime challenge and enjoy a week filled with fun. Field trip: La Brea Tar Pits.
  • Session 5:  July 20-24 - Art Explorers Camp: Explore art through the ages in this hands-on camp! Renaissance to Pop, crayons to acrylic… members will experiment with different art mediums each day to create masterpieces from art movements throughout history. Use your imagination and don’t be afraid to get messy. Martha Jimenez from the Carnegie Museum will speak to the camp. Field trip: Carnegie Art Museum.
  • Session 6:  July 27-31 - Let’s Get Fit for Life: This camp shows Club members the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Campers will learn about nutrition and build the skills necessary to adopt healthy habits through fun hands-on activities, like preparing healthy meals and learning basic cooking skills. Campers will also learn the importance of maintaining physical fitness and do exercises that are lots of fun! Field trip: Oxnard College Culinary Art Program.
  • Session 7:  August 3-7 - Real Life Superheroes: Do you think you have what it takes to be a superhero? Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man…Campers will create their favorite superhero costume, catch the villain and play the Spidey-Sense Obstacle Course. Campers  will vote for their favorite superhero. Field trip:  Hollywood Theater.
  • Session 8:  August 10-14 - It’s a Jungle Out There: Let’s take a trip through the tropical forest! Groups will transform their rooms into tropical islands. Members will look for the lost map to civilization, explore the rainforest, and play games like monkey see, monkey do. We will have a guest speaker from the Humane Society, who will share some of their wild animals with us and discuss what it takes to care for these exotic animals. Field trip: Santa Barbara Zoo.
  • Session 9: August 17-21 - Wet & Wild Wacky Week: Let’s end our summer with the ultimate extreme wet and wild wacky water week. Campers will need a change of clothes, towel, sun screen and flip flops. We will have snow cones and a giant water slide. Field trip: beach.
Sports Camps for Champs {$95/week} run Monday - Friday, 9 am - 2 pm and they are co-ed sports camps, for members in grades 3-8, that focus on teaching good sportsmanship and teamwork within a fun and noncompetitive environment. Our sports camp emphasizes the necessary fundamentals to play the game. Campers will need gym shoes, shorts, cleats (optional for soccer and flag football) and a water bottle.

Description of the Sports Camps
Basketball (Session 1 (June 22-26);  Session 2 (June 29-July 2); Session 6 (July 27-31))
  • This camp will balance teaching skills and fundamentals; campers will be taught team building though one-on-one games, contests and fun.
  • Campers will learn the basic skills for dribbling, passing and shooting a basketball.
  •  The camp is designed to help each participant improve  as a basketball player.
Soccer  (Session 3 (June 22-26); Session 8 (Aug. 10-14)
  • Soccer Camp is a great place for any soccer enthusiast looking to improve their skills, work hard, make new friends and have fun! 
  • This camp introduces the core skills of dribbling, passing, and goalkeeping, all presented in a fun and invigorating training environment. 
  • Participants should wear appropriate clothing; no metal cleats. Shin guards will be provided.
All Sports Camp (Session 4 (July 13-17);  Session 9 (Aug. 17-21)
  • In All Sports Camp, kids will have the opportunity to try out many different sports. 
  • This high-energy and fast-paced camp is sure to be a lot of fun.
Track (Session 5 (July 20-24)
  • Campers will learn the basic technique of running, warm- up, cool down and the importance of nutrition and staying hydrated while running a half-mile run. 
  • Campers will participate in relay races and compete in an obstacle  course challenge.
Cheerleading Camp (Session 7 (Aug. 3-7)
  • Campers are instructed on the basics of cheerleading, including dancing, motions, jumps, chants, cheers, tumbling, stunts, spirit and performance skills. 
  • This is a perfect camp for the beginning cheerleader or the cheerleader who just wants to have fun! 
  • This is a non-competitive program and is limited to 20 members. 
  • Note: Campers please wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.
  • We will invite the Oxnard High School Cheerleading Squad to perform along with our cheer camp. 
  • Campers will take a field trip to Oxnard High School Aquatic Center to go swimming.
Flag Football (Session 7 (Aug. 3-7)
  • Flag Football Camp offers a complete package of skills and drills that teaches young athletes to enjoy this fast-paced game. 
  • The camp introduces the core skills of passing, catching and de-flagging or defensive positioning, all presented in a fun and invigorating training environment. 
  • Participants should wear appropriate clothing; no metal cleats.
Daily Drop In or Open Club starts at noon each day Monday thru Friday and is open to annual members, even those who are not enrolled in summer camp. It includes a free lunch from noon to 1 pm. Programs are both indoors and outdoors. Kids should comes prepared for an active day in the sun: he/she should wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle, backpack for belongings and a healthy snack.
