Ventura County Ballet Brings Cinderella to Life in April

International Dance Star Aaron Smyth Returns as Prince Charming

Ventura County Ballet will present Cinderella at Oxnard Performing Arts Center on Sunday, April 13, at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.  Dazzling artistry, Prokofiev’s joyful music, beautiful costumes and sets, comedy and a generous sprinkling of fairy dust make Cinderella the ideal entertainment for all ages.

International dance sensation Aaron Smyth returns to Ventura County Ballet as Prince Charming. He falls madly in love with Cinderella, danced by Elizaveta “Leeza” Domracheva. Good triumphs over evil as the Fairy Godmother foils the plans of Cinderella’s Stepmother, danced by Ventura County Ballet Artistic Director Marina Fliagina, and her Stepsisters, comically portrayed by Sergei Domrachev and Jameson Keating. The cast also includes preprofessional and aspiring dancers from Ballet Academy Ventura, official school of Ventura County Ballet.

Kathleen Noblin, founder and executive director of Ventura County Ballet, said, “We’re thrilled to once again bring our audiences a full-length, multi-act ballet in the spring for the first time since 2019. Cinderella is a perfect combination of exquisite dancing, fairy tale magic and hilarious comedy. The choreography by Rodney Gustafson, founder of State Street Ballet, has delighted audiences all over the world, and the comic antics of Marina, Sergei and Jameson will have you laughing out loud.”

Noblin added, “It’s a wonderful story for families to enjoy together, and there’s a great family story backstage. Leeza, our lovely Cinderella, is the daughter of Marina Fliagina and Sergei Domrachev. All three trained in Europe and have danced to great acclaim all over the world. We’re so fortunate to have them in Ventura County now.”

Doors to this fairy tale experience open one hour before each performance to a lobby filled with special treats and surprises. The Enchanted Cookie Party features free Crumbl Cookies for children, and the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique offers charming Cinderella-themed gifts.
